THE BEST FOOD IN KUALA LUMPUR
THE BEST PLACES TO GRAB MEXICAN FOOD IN KUALA LUMPUR
October was a month full of Mexican food in Kuala Lumpur with the annual ‘Flavours of Mexico’. Unsurprisingly, we’re still craving tacos and thankfully, there are a handful of Mexican eateries around. Did you know that the cuisine has been catalogued as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010? That’s thanks to its rich diversity and mixture of ancient civilisation with European influence.
Mexico has contributed many ingredients now used in cuisines around the world such as corn, child peppers, tomato, avocado, beans and coca. Unique farming methods like milpas (rotating Swidden fields of corn and other crops) and chinampas (farming in lake areas), together with cooking processes unique to Mexican food define the cuisine. Aesthetics play an important part in the cuisine too, which is why food is served in the ‘talavera’, glazed ceramic plates with designs introduced to Mexico by spaniards, who interestingly inherited the design and colours from Islamic cultures. Which brings us to Malaysia, where you should make reservations at these spots for a steaming hot plate of fajitas and more.
